In the entry for 12th March (spoiler!) Louisa writes “yesterday Nice was visible with the glass”.

It’s impossible to know precisely which of the Alps Louisa would have seen, but the map shows the distance across landmass the ‘glass’ (telescope) would have been able to show the crew and passengers of the HMS Active.
